This artist creates incredibly detailed and beautiful jewelry pieces, using a variety of different materials. They make me think of something that a princess in a fantasy story would be wearing. Please visit the artist's store, to see other works.
I wanted to share this wonderful photography work by Inna Korobova. Her works are beautiful and inspiring. There is just something peaceful about still life, have you noticed? I find it very relaxing to look at those photos. And sometimes hungry.
Please be sure to visit the photographer's site to see more of her work. Its really enchanting!
"The work here shows my journey into the relationship of beads and fabric. It started when I was rear-ended on the freeway and couldn't do sculpture any more. I could, however, manage fabric and beads. Since I needed a new job, I began to explore the relationships between beaded and quilted surfaces and how they relate. I wanted to see beads as an integral part of the design, not just sitting on the surface. Beads and fabric complementing one another, neither one predominating, balanced. These quilts are the results of my explorations to find that balance." - Tom Atkins
That's quite a story, and what amazing work! He mentions that his sister, Robin Atkins, has been his mentor and inspiration (I intend to feature her site on my blog as well). I am quite in love with beads and his work.
Once in a while I come across something that is so unique that it makes me think that we are actually living in a sci-fi novel. We are the aliens, that some intrepid travellers meet and marvel at our unusual jewelry, art, clothes, etc. Niki Stylianou's artwork is very unique. This is what the artist says about her work:
"I was trained as an Architect. And my mind is chaotic in a sense. Analyzing all the parameters and re-composing them in every possible way. All the time. But my eyes love purity. Simplicity. Coherence. And my hands move methodically, producing orderly lines and detailed structures.
I’m Greek. In ancient Greek language, the word for jewel or adornment is “kosmos”. But “kosmos” also means the actual “making”. It means rhythm and order. The making of an “example”, an “archetype” with a perfect inner architecture. A small world on its own. A “whole”. A “pattern” that could be traced again and again and be embodied in the “cosmos” as we understand it today."
These gorgeous necklaces, bracelets and other accessories are made by Alkhemia from what appears to be wire and polymer clay. Also I see that the artist uses some gems and beads as well. Unfortunately I cannot read Italian but I was able to navigate the artist's webpage with the help of trusty Google translate.
Please visit the artist's site, because the small snippet of her work that I am able to post here really does not due the justice to the sheer volume and creativity of this person. She also offers many tutorials of her work. You can also see some of her work on Flikr. If someone is able to find more information about the artist, I would love to know and include here.
